PMA Objectives
The overall objective of the PMA component is to
strengthen the capacity to provide timely information on poverty and
social conditions and facilitate its use in policy making.
Specifically the PMA will:

Streamline the collection of
economic and social statistics at household level; |

Mainstream the analysis of
poverty data, including the production of an annual
poverty and social indicators monitoring report; |
 |
Support the functioning of a
unit in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development
which would be involved in policy formulation, analysis,
interagency co-ordination and communication, planning,
monitoring and evaluation of poverty related activities. |
The PMA component will finance a range of
activities which are designed to strengthen the institutional,
technical and financial framework for sustainable monitoring and
policy-use of poverty information. These activities will be:

capacity building for
survey management;

pre-agreed cycle of household
surveys, including Living Conditions Monitoring Surveys
(LCMS) and Indicators Monitoring Surveys (IMS), conducted
by the Living Conditions Monitoring Unit (LCMU) of CSO; |
| 3 |
priority policy studies and
analyses of poverty using qualitative and quantitative
data coordinated by the Study Fund; |
| 4 |
preparation and dissemination
of an Annual Poverty Review which provides a poverty
update synthesising different sources of information on
social conditions including from household surveys,
administrative systems, participatory assessments, etc.
including findings from the studies to be facilitated by
the Study Fund; |

training, technical
assistance, capacity-building and support to the
establishment and operation of a Strategic and Operational
Planning Unit (SOPU) |

establishment of capacity for
evaluation. |
